Freshmen Uniform Fittings Tomorrow, Friday, July 18

This is a reminder that during lunch break tomorrow (11am-1pm) all Freshmen will need to be fitted for their uniforms. Even if you were fitted during rookie camp, you will need to try on your uniform again.

In addition, all Freshmen must bring a lunch. No meals will be provided or made available at the school.

Madison Band Supply will be here to try on and order white band shoes. You may also purchase gloves, lyres, flip folders, etc. Madison Band Supply will take cash, check, or credit cards (if using credit cards, you will be charged 5% sales tax). If you do not order shoes this week, there will be a price increase.

Thank you,

1. Food Truck and Snow Cones Wednesday 2. Pizza Friday

During the Lunch break on Wednesday the Food Fightersbuataurant will be here. Their menu includes hotdogs, tacos, pulled pork, french fries, etc. The menu is attached for your information.

This is something new for all of us. If it goes well, they will come back and maybe the word will get out and others will come as well.

Also on Wednesday during lunch and at the 4:00 break, the drum line will be selling snow cones. They will be $3, $4, and $5.

Friday during the dinner break everyone will need to stay at the school for pictures. We have ordered pizza (cheese and pepperoni) from Domino’s. The cost is $2.00. Bring the money by Friday. You will need to provide your own drink.

Out of County Field Trip Form

Parents,

Attached is the Out of County Field Trip Form. Please return it to the band room by the end of band camp, July 25th. This form must be notarized. Monique Haselden, our Vice President, is a Notary and will be available during band camp to notarize forms. You can also have it done at your bank and if you have access to the JAG office on post, they will also notarize it for you.

Band Camp Tomorrow- IMPORTANT

Hi all,

In preparation for tomorrow, please make sure you have done the following:

1) Printed off the football music, placed it in a folder/binder, and practiced it.
2) Printed off fundamentals sheet, Bb tuning, and Tron, placed it in a folder/binder, and practiced them.
3) Printed off stand tunes, place it in a folder/binder, and practiced them.
4) Printed off the opener drill (posted on https://bjhsband.com/band-camp/2014-music-and-drills/ with the password “football2014”)
4) Purchased colored section shorts, 1 gallon water jug, and SPF 30 or higher sunscreen.

I cannot stress to you enough the importance of individual preparation. We will be moving very quickly during camp and will expect you to come ready to work.

*No plastic water bottles will be allowed on the band field and you WILL NOT be allowed to leave rehearsal to refill small personal bottles. Come with your OWN 1 gallon water jug labeled with your name.

*There will be consequences for not having printed drill or drill accessed on your phone. Please come prepared. You will be given your drill number Monday afternoon.

*We will start physical conditioning tomorrow as well. We have a personal trainer specialized in marching band coming to work with us. You are expected to participate in all exercises. If there is a health issue, please see me with a doctor’s excuse to discuss.

Band Camp Volunteers Needed

Dear Parents and Students,

In one week we will all be singing the “Arm Circles” song and hoping for slightly over cast and unseasonable cool weather for July in Alabama! Band Camp starts Monday, July 14 at 8:00AM! We are all very excited about this next year. Over the summer many students and parents and the directors have been working hard to get us ready for the year.

It takes many people to make band camp happen and to get the kids on the field for the first game. Below are three ways that you can help. Please follow the link and sign up where you can help.

Uniform Fittings — We will need 9 people each day to help fit the students for uniforms. Please be there at 10:00 and we will start fittings at 11:00. We will do a class each day so the end time will vary depending on the number of students that day.

Band Field Chaperones — We will need 2 people during the morning block and the evening block to be on the practice field to assist with first aid (ice packs, extra water, band-aids) and handing out popsicles. Chairs and shade will be provided.

Popsicles! — Popsicles will be provided each morning during a break for the students to cool off. Please bring your popsicles for the morning that you are signed up at 8:00am. We prefer the ice pops that come in the plastic tube. They can be purchased at Wal-Mart and Sam’s. They have also been at Kroger and Dollar General. They may or may not be frozen. Please deliver you popsicles frozen. Keep in mind that freezing them may take a couple of days.

Thank you in advance for your help to make Band Camp a successful week.
