Parents,
There are still many openings for concession stand and chaperone help!
This is a preseason game and the kids will not be marching. They will be playing in the stands. This is a good opportunity to work and help get the season off to a good start.
Please go to the calendar on CHARMS or to http://www.bjhsband.com and click on “Volunteer” in the middle of the page. This will take you to the calendar. Click on the helping hand to sign up to help.
We need approximately 38 people each week to make the concession stand run smoothly. We really need people to carry belly trays (love that name). This is a fun job because you get to walk through the stands and see people and catch a play or two of the game. This is an important job because it greatly boosts our sales. There is fun to be had in all of the jobs. The most fun is getting to know the other parents.
Remember this is our biggest fundraiser. All of the money that we make in the concessions stand goes to help all of our kids.
Reminder: There will be a Concession Stand Tour on Wednesday, Aug 20 at 7pm. This is a good opportunity to be familiar with concession stand operations. Open to everyone.
We take five buses of students to every game — home and away. We need two adults per bus to chaperone. I enjoyed being a chaperone because I got a close up of the kids in the stands. You may see another side of your kid that you have not seen before. I did, and it made this Mom feel good about her son being in Marching Band.
We are still looking for 2-3 more people to help with the Truck Driver/Equipment committee. Your commitment to being on a regular rotation of this committee counts as your concession time. Please contact Mike Delmas if you are interested. mrdelmas@aol.com
I have two people who are nurses that have contacted me. If we had more, that would be great.
The treasurer’s committee needs five more people to help count money from the concession stand after the games. This will be a rotating committee and you would work at half of the home games. This counts for a concession time.
I know this may seem overwhelming and a lot of work. It is a lot of work. It takes lots of people doing many jobs to get our kids on the field. I have found working with the band to be fun and rewarding. I am so happy to have met new people, put a face to a name (especially with the kids), and make new friends. I hope that you will as well.
